What is DSIP?
DSIP is a synthetic nine-residue peptide whose sequence corresponds to the neuropeptide described in the older neurobiology literature as delta sleep-inducing peptide, the synonym the catalogue also lists. It is a short, linear, unmodified peptide with no acetylation, no amidation and no D-amino acid substitutions, filed under chronobiology and stocked in 5 mg and 10 mg presentations. The sequence is Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu, or WAGGDASGE in single-letter notation. All nine residues are standard L-amino acids. The single amino-terminal tryptophan is the only strongly ultraviolet-absorbing residue and the one most sensitive to light during storage, while the aspartate and glutamate residues give the chain a net negative charge at neutral pH and shape its behaviour on reversed-phase columns. Three glycine residues leave the backbone comparatively unconstrained.
